Mariah Antunes do Nascimento, PhD

Mariah holds a degree in Biomedicine with a specialization in Genetics and Molecular Biology. She earned her Master's in Health Sciences and her PhD in Microbiology, focusing on environmental microbiology. While all of her studies were completed in Brazil, part of her PhD research was conducted in Australia at CSIRO, the Australian research agency. Her work focuses on monitoring viruses and bacteria in wastewater and environmental samples, as well as developing cost-effective assays for their detection. In her free time, Mariah enjoys working out and discovering new things and places. She is also passionate about animals.
